Afterbeing smoothed and cleaned, it is again fixed in the turners frame (a kind oflathe worked by hand), and made to rotate. The sticks of lacquer color, con-sisting of a mixture of lac, resin, coloring matter, and, it is said, a certainproportion of sulphur and bees-wax, are then applied to the rotating object; 48o THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, 1876.
