We willtherefore content ourselves witn expressing the hope that the variousorganizations that are seeking to help basketball will eventually arriveat some general agreement, formal or tacit, for the benefit of the gameand its players, and that the season now opening will exceed ail formerones in the amount of good accomplished, and the advancement of theNational Mid-Winter EXPLANATORY. By THE EDITOR. The Protective Association rules differ in many respectsfrom any advanced up to the present time. The changes andadditions are the result of a careful, conscientious consider-ation of the opinions and suggestions of many, who havinga long and intimate acquaintance with the game, and beingknown to have its best interests at heart, seem peculiarlyfitted to know what changes time has rendered necessaryand advisable.
