PEOPLE PICKING LAVENDER AT CADWELL FARM,HITCHIN,HERTFORDSHIRE.

Britain is on track to produce a BETTER crop of lavender than Provence this year, thanks to the warm and sunny say it is an "exceptional" year for lavender due to the long dry spell which has helped produce magnificent fields of the deep purple fragrant flowers bloomed late this year because of the cold spring but they have made up for it now with dramatic carpets of bright purple and delicate mauve blooms across Britain."It really is an exceptional year for British lavender and the best I can remember," said Tim Hunter, who helps run family business Hitchin Lavender at Cadwell Farm in Hitchin, Herts."It grows well in Provence in France and this summer we have seen similar conditions to that region."It has never looked so spectacular and we are expecting a bumper crop to rival Provence."
