The hopper form of cars is favorableto a good body bolster bolsters are 10-in. channels restingon top of the 15-in. center sills and coveredby 1--in. cover plates, which are extendedand bent to form floor supports for thehoppers. The bolsters are further stiff-ened and connected to the center sills bylarge %-in. bracket plates, which are alsosecured to the short side sills by anglesand to the inside faces of the bolsterchannels by rivets. In this car the brace angles for the sideplates are all vertical except at the endpanels. As in the earlier designs, thepanel spacing brings vertical members atthe ends of the bols
