On Saturday 5th December 2015, Storm despond crashed into the UK, producing the UK's highest ever 24 hour rainfall total at It flooded the Lakeland village Glenridding, which was just starting to repair when another period of heavy rain on Wednesday 9th December caused the Glenridding Beck to burst its banks, causing yet further destruction. This photograph, taken on the morning of 11th December, shows Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team in their rescue boat, taking food supplies to Howtown on the other side of the Lake that had been cut off for five days by the floods.
