At the Hague was within a quarterof a mile of the Ahoukir on her starboard bow, with the Cressy asimilar distance away on the other side. The Ahaukir had startedto lower her starboard sea-boat, but the list had become so greatthat she stuck and could not be got away. The sun was shiningvery brightly, and the red glow of the copper bottom with thepink bodies of the men as they climbed down her sides made apicture that will never be forgotten.
