A large volume of water was flowing over thedam in December, 1895, while springs and creeks were drying up allover southern New Jersey on account of the x)revailing dronght. Thedam is about 10 rods long. The water falls 9 feet at the sluice, andthis fall is secured by backing the water only 300 or 400 yards up thestream. The water passes through a large conduit from the pond under theroad to the top of the 8-foot overshot water wheel. This water wheelis connected by cogged wheels to a Worthington double-action waste water then passes through a ditch to the main creek water for the reservoir is pumped through an underground clay. i Public Road
