Saint Jehanne of Arc (Domrémy, 1412-Rouen, 1431), surrounded by Saint Pierre Fourier (Mirecourt, 1565-Gray, 1640), famous parish priest of Mattaincourt, and Alix le Clerc (Remiremont, 1576-Nancy, 1622), disciple of the latter. ; In front of her is the painter Claude Gellée, known as Le Lorrain (Chamagne, 1600-Rome, 1682), alongside the poet Nicolas Gilbert (Fontenoy-le-Château, 1751-Paris, 1780). On the left, Jean-François Pellet (Épinal, 1781-Épinal, 1830), known as the Bard of the Vosges, converses with his model, the poet Lamartine. In the foreground on the right is seated Pierre Thouvenel (Sauville, 1747-Paris, 1815), who wrote numerous scientific and medical works. Beside him, Jean-Joseph Fleurot (Val-d'Ajol, 1718-Val-d'Ajol, 1784), a bonesetter, cured the Duke of Burgundy, from whom he received the work on osteology which he consults here with his son. Near Saint Pierre Fourier stands Marshal Victor (Lamarche, 1764-Paris, 1841) next to the politician and writer François de Neufchâteau (Saffais, 1750-Paris, 1828). On the right, the jurist Antoine Boulay de la Meurthe (Chaumousey, 1761-Paris, 1840) indicates the Civil Code, in the drafting of which he participated.
