Stayman Winesap Apple. Delicious Apple. Horse (Yellow Horse). Large, greenish yel- low, acid, a good bearer. Widely known throughout the South. July and August. Hackworth. Fruit medium to large, of good appearance and quality. Begins ripening in July and continues through August. Fall and Winter Apples -Red Reese. From Sand Mountain in North Alabama. Larger than Winesap, bright red, shape much like Delicious. Ripens in early fall but keeps well into the winter. Lowry. Medium to large, of perfect shape and very uniform in size. Sub-acid, very juicy but solid; one of the finest keepers in stor- age. Almost solid red. Quality high. Na- tive of Virginia, where it matures for pick- ing about September 15. Stayman Winesap. A seedling of Winesap. but a stronger grower and better adapted to thin soils; much like Winesap in size and appearance, but of better quality. Winesap. One of the most dependable late Apples for the general South. Small to me- dium size; fine, dark red; flesh crisp. An excellent keeper. Delicious. A very popular Apple in the West and Northwest. Very large, oblong; color rich crimson shaded to yellow; fine grain, juicy; a fine keeper and shipper. Not yet thoroughly tried out in the South, but very promising. Yates. A small Apple, but one of the surest croppers, heaviest bearers, and best keepers. Dark red with white dots; flesh yellow, crisp and good. Four.
