For Boise State University Senior ROTC Cadet Corey Patton college and Army ROTC is not just about juggling several balls at once, but also hitting them at opponents. Since her freshman year Patton has been a member of the BSU Women’s Tennis Team. This year, as team captain, she juggles 19 credits academically, about 20 hours a week for practice and travels with the team to compete in the Mountain West Division. Patton is originally from Delta, Colorado. She is a psychology major at BSU. She has been named three times to the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete team and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic Team (2019, 2020, 2021). In 2021 she was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team. She is quick to identify herself as a “type A’ personality. She said she began thinking of military service after meeting other people who had or were serving in the military or a career in public service. She made a career choice to serve for “ something bigger than myself.” On Saturday, February 19, cadets from Idaho’s Army ROTC programs; Boise State University in Boise, Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, and Idaho State University in Pocatello, assembled en masse at the Idaho National Guard’s Orchard Combat Training Center range 14 for individual weapons qualification and training. The Office of Visual Information for Idaho Army National Guard will follow the Boise State University Bronco Battalion for the Spring 2022 Semester through graduation. Graduates will serve as officers in the Army, the Army National Guard, and the Army Reserves. Several BSU seniors who will graduate this May are destined for duty with the Idaho Army National Guard joining several BSU ROTC Alumni currently serving in the Idaho Army National Guard.
