This brings the strain ofraising the heel on the inner and longer side of the foot and makes an unduestrain upon the tendons that support the arch. It also turns the large toein and in time the joint of the big toe becomes enlarged from the strain andprojects inward toward the other foot. The spring of the foot in walking should be on the outer and shorterside of the foot for the reason that the smaller and shorter bones of the foot 766 THE FEET.
