A wild female adult orangutan with her offspring on the bank of the Sekonyer River, Tanjung Puting National Park, Borneo.

This is a portrait of a mother and infant orangutan. Both are facing toward the camera with the mother gazing downward reaching for an edible root. They are suspended from a tree and the grasping limbs are visible. The orangutans are centrally placed with the focus on them; the remainder of the frame is filled with rainforest foliage leaving space for copy. The orangutans in the Tanjung Puting National Park in Borneo suffer because of palm oil harvesting and illegal logging destroying their natural environment. So many come to feeding stations where their diet is supplemented; they have become used to humans being around because of this. Vertical format with plenty of copy space.
