The deepreflexes have been re-ported as most instances,however, there is pro-gressive deteriorationand not late stages con-tractures develop. The histologicalchanges in the mus-cles are similar tothose found in the other types of myopathy. Either sex may beaffected. Amyotonia congenita has now been recorded as occurring. -Amyotonia Congenita 506 DISEASES OP BONES AND MUSCLES in myopathic families, but no such connection is usually to betraced. In diagnosis amyotonia congenita has to be distinguished from ricketyhypotonia (p. 68), a condition in which the histological muscularchanges do not resemble those of myopathy. Intermediate Cases.—It is not necessary to deal with such cases asdo not fit accurately into any of the forms of myopathy describedabove. As a rule a slightly irregular case is sufficiently like somerecognized type to allow of its inclusion therein. The most commonirregularities are perhaps the facial involvement of the Landouzy-Dejerine type appearing in the pseudo-hypertrophic and other forms,and the presence of pseudo-hypertrophy in the Erbs juvenile type. Treatment of Myopathy-—Beyond massage, the use of electricity,arid the administration of strychnine in large doses, little can be donefor myopathy. The progress of the disease may be lessened by
