Lincoln Christmas Market was the first Christmas market in the UK. It started in 1982 and is now one of the largest in Europe. It is held around the medieval square between the Norman Castle and the cathedral in the historic area of the city. It has in excess of 200 stalls and a funfair. The market is held in December each year and attracts up to 250,000 visitors.
