The Department of Defense is observing June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month to recognize the DoD's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender service members and civilians. Pride Month is celebrated in June each year to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, which was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.
