At McMulkin's, on Boylston street, last week some excellent Prunus tri- loba and bougainvilleas were noted, also grand azaleas of specimen size. Thomas Capers, of Wellesley Hills, grows remarkably fine Queen carna- tions, equal to the average White En- chantress, of which he also grows a good many. Other favorites are Bea- con and Fenn. His pick is all han- dled by his son, H. T. Capers, at the Boston Cooperative Flower Market. F. H. Houghton, of Park street, had the decorations, .which were quite elab- orate and artistically arranged, for the Sias-Prest wedding January 10. Palms, wild smilax and hundreds of superb, long-stemmed Beauty roses were used, the latter the pick of the Waban Con- servatories' cut. Mr. Houghton has a large and growing trade at his new store, which is always arranged with exceedingly good taste. William Nicholson, owing to sickness, was unable to make the Detroit trip, as hoped.
