The Pantanal in the south western states Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul of Brazil is the biggest wetland in the world. It is half a year completely covered with water and half a year almost dry. In the dry season between June and September the animals come back from their refugees in the higher forest areas to stay close to the small lakes and the riverside. It is the best time to discover the flora and fauna of the Pantanal.
