There are many objections to the empirical method in addi-tion to those mentioned above, for we know that it is extremelydifficult at the present time to classify accurately the varioustypes of endocrinological syndromes, with few exceptions, and inaddition, the overlapping of groups makes the results of investi-gation more uncertain. Certain preparations, Ave can administer with a fair degreeof precision. The thyroid, the adrenal and the posterior pituitary. 4 injections of Hynson, extracts give a definite physiological response, and experi-mentally these responses can be shown to be constant. It was with the intention of establishing some definitemethod of determining the value of the various ovarian prepara-tions that this investigation was undertaken. I wish to thank the various manufacturers of these prepara-tions, who so kindly donated the material for the experiments, and expressed their interest in the work and their desire to co-operate, namely, Parke, Davis & Co., Ilynson, Westcott & Dunn-ing, The Wilson Laboratories, and Burroughs, Wellcome & the Hynson, Westcott & Dunning preparations, we used the GEIST AND HARRIS 43 Corpus Luteum, the Ovarian Substance and the Ovarian the Parke-Davis preparations, the Corpus Luteum and theOvarian Substance with corpus hiteuni and without corpusluteum was used.
