Side view detail of Lord Rolle’s Limekiln at Landcross near Bideford. This is a historic construction where lime was produced for the estate prior to the railways. Coal and Stone were brought here by boat and distributed as far up as Great Torrington by river and canal. The remains of several old limekilns can be found alongside the old Rolle Canal. Coal and limestone were transported by boat to these kilns from Wales.
