Mangrove trees (Rhizophora sp.) and roots in swampy mud at low tide. These plants are found in coastal habitats that have a high salt content. The roots of mangrove plants help to enhance the deposition of sediment by slowing down tidal water. The plants also help to protect the coast from erosion. Photographed in Big Pine Key, Florida, USA.
