Macrotrachelus longirostris, Giebel5. This is the type species, and is of medium size; the length of the cranium in the type specimen is 0,107, and that of the entire skeleton about 0,300. Typically the neck and rostrum are much elongated, and the teeth do not extend backwards to the narial aperture: but there are said to be transitions in this respect towards the next form 6.
