One of our most vseful Hawks, feeding principally upon the destructive meadow mouse. This Hawk may readily be distinguished ft cm all others by its low skimming flight, as it works over the meadows in search of its favorite food, and also by the white patch at the base ol its tail, which is very conspicuous. A heavy penalty should be inflicted on persons who destroy these birds. IIP.
