There are stores whereMexican curios are exposed for sale, and Reuben, theguide who conducts parties across the line, is worth a tripto almost any place to see. With the exception of theostriches, I do not remember to have seen anj^thing inSouthern California quite so original and unusual asReuben. He is dark — very dark, in fact — and hismouth may be fitly compared with the correspondingportion of the above-mentioned bird. But the moststriking
