(June 21, 2018) Phaedra Jessen, a civilian oceanographer for Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Command, prepares to release a weather balloon at the National Weather Service in Reno. Jessen, of Iselin, , was in town for Navy Week. Navy Week programs serve as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the country that lack a significant Navy presence, helping Americans understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times.
