Another smallspecies, very slender and very graceful, is the brook silver- Percesoces and Rhegnopteri 43 r side Labidesthcs sicculus, which swarms in clear streams fromLake Ontario to Texas. This species, three to four incheslong, has the snout produced and a very bright silvery stripealong the side. Large and small species of silversides occur.
