City of Chester, England. Chester’s medieval Old Dee Bridge over the River Dee with Bridgegate and the City Wall in the background. Built c1387 the Old Dee Bridge is a Grade 1 Listed ‘Scheduled Ancient Monument’ and an important medieval city landmark. Extending from Bridgegate to Handbridge, the bridge still retains its tollgate post were tolls continued to be charged for crossing until 1885.
