In the centre adome rises to a height of 187 ft. and iscovered with burnished copper. Thebuilding stands in the Government Park, ofwhich the beautifully treed grounds slopedown to the banks of Wascana Lake. ThePost Office, a substantial and handsomebuilding, is centrally situated and con-veniently arranged, whiie of the municipalbuildings the city hall is one of the finestin Western Canada. These occupy anarea of one hundred acres, and during theannual Dominion Exposition are well filledwith agricultural implements and farm pro-duce. A large racecourse surrounds thegrounds and the grand stand affords accom-modation for many thousands. To the westof the town are the barracks of the North-West Mounted Police, the scene of theexecution of the rebel Louis Riel in1885. The city is strongly in favour of themunicipal ownership of public street railway, when the projectedextensions have been consummated, willserve every part of the city.
