End cottage,no 3, just 1 metre from the cliff edge is soon to be demolished. The family who owned it as a holiday home had hoped for another 5 years use but the recent storms have caused erosion at least 3 times the annual expected rate. The cottages were built in 1863. Council erosion surveys since 1930's recorded the highest annual erosion rate until now at 16ft one year in the 30's. David Burr/Alamy Live News.
