Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan in 'The Kid', 1921. British comedian, actor and film star Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) and American actor John Leslie (Jackie) Coogan (1914-1984), who starred as the son of Chaplin's character. The film was a great success and made Coogan into the first child film star.
