It is highly important, in perform-ing this operation, to guard against wounding the iris; thesurgeon, therefore, should not attempt to accomplish toomuch at a single operation, but calculate, in most instances,upon a second or third being necessary. The posterior operation is distinguished from the ante-rior by the circumstance of the opening being made in thesclerotic coat instead of the cornea.
