Were it not for theirdirtiness and the unpleasant odours resulting fromtheir mode of life, many of them, of both sexes, wouldbe by no means disagreeable of presence. In regardto the younger members of the tribe in particular,while their faces are not by any means perfect, thereseems to be a generally pleasing expression, especiallywhen interested or engaged in conversation. Their clothing is composed entirely of furs and skinsof animals and birds, and, in pattern and adaptation ofeach material to a certain purpose, is the result of anevolution extendinof through generation after o-enera-tion, until to-day the Eskimo dress may be consid-.
