Native American Navajo Medicine Wheel on a white background

While hide medicine wheels wrapped with dyed porcupine quills were originally used by Plains tribes, many Native Americans today use the medicine wheel as a symbol of their adherence to traditional values and teachings. A medicine wheel represents the sacred circle of life, its basic four directions, and the elements - wind, fire, earth & water. The animals are the protectors of the four directions. Known to many Native cultures for its healing, and spiritual powers.
