Homemade bird scarers hung in apple trees to discourage birds taking spring blossom.

Bird scarers. Compost bags strung to catch wind and rattle and bang in wind with old CDs hung in pairs to mimic eyes. Used to sunsettle and discourage birds taking the blossom in spring. However birds learn. CDs seemed to work 1st year, but not in later years. Plastic bags have stick inserted at closed end to create hard 'shoulder', then strung loosely using strips of stretchy fabric so they twist and flap in the wind. They look more like the human form and the slapping against tree branches more like the clapping of hands than the rattle the CDs make.
