(March 8, 2019) Rear Adm. John F. Meier, Commander Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 10, left, congratulates Capt. Dave Stoner's, commanding officer of USS Monterey (CG 61), after presenting him with a Legion of Merit Award during Monterey's change of command ceremony at the Joint Forces Staff College's Normandy Hall. Meier, who was guest speaker at the event, is Monterey's operational commander. Monterey is undergoing planned shipyard work while in the maintenance phase of the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP). The ship serves as the ballistic missile defense commander for CSG 10.
