Measurements of an ordinary individual.—Length of body mm.; width of body mm.; length of nucleus mm.; width of nucleus mm.; length of cilia at least mm. (The cilia are seldom well enough preserved for one to be sure he is measuring their full length.) This species is elongated. Usually the posterior end of the body tapers evenly to a long point (fig. 22, c and d), giving much the shape of a macrogamete mother cell. Other individuals narrow more.
