He is a son of Hiram W. and Ilinda Cooking-ham, horn in the tt)\vn of Brant, Erie County, this state, June 8, came to Cherry Creek with his father in Octolier, 1867, where he hassince resided. He was educated in the common schools and in early lifelieiran active lahors on the farm. He now owns 150 acres of good land uponwliich he keeps a dairy of 75 head. In 1880 in eomj^any with his father. FRANK H. COOKINGHAM. thev brought the first thoroughhred Ayshire cattle to this locality; since whichtime they have made a specialty of breeding them. \Mie never Ayshireis mentioned in Western Ne\\ York the name of Cookingham is prominentlyconnected. Chautauijua County is known far and wide for the excellence ofits dairy products, and the Maple How Stock Farm, the home of theCookinghams, has added much to its reputation, both for dairy goods andfine stock. For the past twenty yeears their herd has been well representedat all the in-ominent fairs, and won their share of the prizes; they have over200 first ]nize ribl)ons, which have brought them many dollars.
