It is still moderately common in Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas during the migra- tions, but its numbers are fast decreasing. Mr. F. M. Woodruff states he killed a pair of these birds at Grass Lake, Illinois, in June, 1892 (Bull. Chicago Acad. Sciences, No. 6, 1907, p. 72)..
