A Salian gold ring, Rhineland, 11th/12th century Sturdy shank, split at the ends. Elaborately designed, double-level plate, the rim with openwork arch decoration. Plate and rim with fine decorations of corded wire and set with gold pearls. In the centre a greenish sapphire(?) set in filigree amid eight small pearls. Cleaned archeological find. Height 34 mm, weight g.
