An annual grass, with pale, dense, ovoid or oblong woolly heads. Species one, in the Mediterranean region and in- troduced sparingly in Cali- fornia. Type species : Lagurus ovatiis L. Lagurus L., Sp. PL 81, 1753; Gen. PL, eel. 5, 34. 1754. Only one species described. Lagurus ovatus (fig. 79) is sometimes cultivated as an ornamental, the woolly heads being used for dry bouquets. 67.
