Cav., andDr. Nelson wasmade major ofthe Second bat-talion. He wasappointed cap-tain of CompanyK, First regimentNew EnglandCavalry, Oct. 9,1861, and wasappointed majorof the same regi-ment in Decem-ber foil resigned onJune 3, his mil-itary career hewas in commandof the advancearmy
