The locality near Tower Fall and the mouth ofLamar River, some twenty miles from MammothHot Springs—reached also from the Grand Can-yon—is a famous place for trout fishing. As it is atpresent out of the line of the regular trip, a specialexcursion is necessary to reach it. A new andsplendid road now connects Mammoth Hot Springswith Tower Fall and the region thereabout. The managers at the various hotels will give allinformation possible to those who are interested inthis ITHIN recent years the increase in thenumber of wild animals in the parkis very noticeable. The careful pro-tection accorded them causes them tomultiply, and besides many bears andbuffaloes there are, approximately, 2,000 antelope,200 mountain sheep, 100 whitetail and LOGO black-tail deer, and thousands of elk roaming the animals offer to molest no one, and are harmlesswhen no attempts are made to annoy or interferewith them. The elk, and particularly the deer, arenot infrequently seen near the roadsides and graz-ing in the vicinity of the hotels. The tourist season in the Park is the annual feasttime or vacation period for the bears. Morning and
