Having constantly used Dr. Finschs work forthe determination of the Parrots in the Zoological Societys Gardens duringthe past ten years, I am able to bear good testimony as to its merits ; and Imay add a wish that we had many other ornithological monographs of thesame solid character. But our knowledge of the American avifauna has been much increasedrecently; and as regards the Parrots of the genus Pionus I am able to makecertain additions to what is given by Dr. Finsch in his work, from sourcesthat were n
