Laila Farahi (left), a female Afghan national army soldier, assists 1st. Lt. Nicole Pries(right), Intensive Care Ward nurse, deployed from the David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., with a patient. She attended a special two-week mentorship program here at the Criag Joint Theater Hospital to work alongside doctors and nurses to hone her medical skills and get first-hand experience with trauma-based care. She was one of first women to ever attend the special program.
