Mitreing Breaks.—When mitreinground small breaks in cornices, pilasters,plinths, &c, a length of moulding, sometimesnot exceeding \ in. long, cannot be heldconveniently in block, because of the differ-ences between length, breadth, and thick-ness. A board is then prepared by screw-ing a piece of hardwood planed to angleof 45 degs. at one end, and a correspondinglythick piece to act as a rest for plane(see f. 2 opposite). Pins are driven inuntil their heads project T^ in. from theboard, and are filed to a sharp point.
