View of the N half of the long rectangular main chamber of Holm of Papa Westray South Neolithic chambered cairn, Orkney, Scotland, UK, showing 5 of the 12 lintelled side-cell entrances (2 are double-cells making 14) & the NW dividing wall & its entrance. The main chamber is c long with cross-walls dividing off the NW & SE ends (or extensions). The surrounding cairn is rectangular with rounded corners & the entrance passage enters the main chamber in the centre of the ESE side (to R of camera position). Entrances to 4 cells are visible (second R is a double cell), the cross-wall with its (enlarged) entrance & the NW terminal cell beyond. The E cell & the W cell beyond the wall are not visible in the photograph. The tomb is a Maes Howe type with corbelled side-cells leading off a (very elongated) central chamber. There are the remains of two other chambered tombs on this small island just off the E coast of Papa Westray.
