Grasses or clovers, wet by dew or rain, seem especially apt to cause hoven. Frosted roots and impaction from overfeeding may also re- sult in arrested digestion, and then hoven ensues. Sick cattle frequently bloat after lying for a long time on the side. Choke often leads to hoven. 230.
