Its dimensionsmay be judged by the fact that six games of fcotballcan be carried on simultaneously. This ground is alsoused for large outdoor gatherings ; it was liere thatthe Prince of Wales, in 1920, witnessed a militaryreview- and met the school children of the distiict. The 69. Prior to the formation of the Cricket (Jround, thearea was a marsh. The diainage system, which waslaid down, has transformed it into the splendid sportsgiound of to-day. It is also interesting to record thatthe site is reputed to have been a resort of the old-time Maoris as a place to procure eels for consumption. The Auckland Exhibition of 1913-14 was held in theDomain, and this event has resulted in great improve-ments to this Park.
