Miletus was an ancient Greek city flourishing from the 8th century BC in the west of nowadays Turkey. The settlement was in former times at the coast but is now situated inland. But the old port monument still remains in the northern agora. Milet war eine Stadt im alten Griechenland, die ab dem 8. Jahrhundert vor Christus aufblühte. Damals lag der Ort an der Küste, heute finden sich seine Ruinen einige Kilometer landeinwärts. Das alte Hafenmonument hat die Zeiten überdauert und steht heute noch manchmal mitsamt der Nord-Agora unter Wasser.
