Happily for us, the country is just awakening to the impor-tance of this subject, and is putting forth efforts in several direc-tions toward the attainment of better physiques among our pop-ulation. The principal lines along which this interest in physicaltraining has been developing are represented by our universities,colleges, and secondary sciiools, our Christian Associations andsocial and industrial unions, and our city athletic clubs. Howthis interest has grown within the past twelve )ears may bejudged by the following list of institutions that have built gym-nasiums, or reconstructed halls or other buildings for the practice.
