Bypass canal of the Moscow river in the spring morning.
Bypass canal of the Moscow river in the spring morning. The canal was made in 18 century to prevent flooding of the Balchug (marshy) island (to the right). To the left you can see Ovchinnikovskaya (sheepskin maker's) embankment. Makers of sheepskin clothes lived in the area in old times. To the right you can see Sadovnicheskaya (gardener's) embankments. Gardeners of the royal gardens lived there. The Sadovnichesky humpback bridge is in the center, business and office buildings are behind the bridge. Top of Spasskaya (Savior's) tower, topped with a ruby star, can be seen in the background.
